Godfrey Labs Book a call

How we work.

No long contracts. No agency middlemen. The first call is free; the first paid work is two-to-four weeks; the rest depends on whether the pilot earned it.

i.
What's the objective?
Tell me the actual outcome — not the polished version. The feature the team's been pushing for three quarters. The prototype that worked in the demo and broke in week two. The backlog you don't know how to start. The clearer the objective, the smaller the pilot scope. One paragraph is fine.
ii.
30-minute scoping call.
Thirty minutes on Cal.com. We talk about the objective, what your team looks like, what tools they're already using, what shape an engagement could take. End of the call you either have a scoped first piece — written down, with a price and a timeline — or an honest "I'm not the right fit, and here's who is." Both outcomes are useful.
iii.
Paid pilot, two-to-four weeks.
Two-to-four weeks, paid hourly or fixed-fee depending on the work. I ship the scoped piece on your codebase, with your team in the loop. By the end you've got: the working software, the prompts and workflow that produced it, an honest write-up of what worked and what I'd do differently, and a clear yes/no on whether the next step is worth taking.
iv.
Expand if it works.
If the pilot earned the next step, the engagement scales — bigger scope, a retainer, or a partnership shape if the timing's right. The "partners-not-gigs" stance is the philosophy; the entry point is always the scoped pilot, never a long contract sight unseen. If the pilot didn't earn the next step, we stop. The work you got is yours.

Four promises
we keep.

The agreement layer underneath the engagement. These are explicit because trust-asymmetric buyers shouldn't have to read tea leaves.

i. Promise

No demos. Production-grade or we don't ship it.

The discipline is the product. The code we ship is the code we'd want to maintain.

ii. Promise

One senior voice, end-to-end.

You talk to the person doing the work. No agency middlemen. No juniors stretched into senior billings.

iii. Promise

Your code is yours from day one.

No vendor lock. No "platform" hidden under the work. The workflow stays with your team after we're done.

iv. Promise

Honest about what we can't do.

If we're not the right fit, we'll say so — and usually we know someone who is.

· Pricing

The first call is free.

The first scoped piece is paid — fixed-fee or hourly depending on the work, agreed in writing before anything starts. There's no published rate card because every engagement is different.

· Ready?

The next step is one click.

Thirty minutes. Cal.com. No prep needed beyond the rough outline of the objective.
